20th Century Studios Rio

Van de makers van Ice Age komt nu Rio, de nieuwe animatiefilm over papegaai Blu in het zonovergoten Rio de Janeiro. Blu is een tamme Macaw papegaai die nog nooit geleerd heeft om te vliegen. Hij woont samen met zijn baasje, Linda, in het koude Minnesota, waar hij geniet van zijn comfortabele leventje. Hij is tenslotte de laatste van zijn soort, althans. dat denkt hij. In het exotische Rio woont Jewel, zijn vrouwelijke tegenpool. Samen met Linda besluit hij zijn vleugels te spreiden en af te reizen naar de andere kant van de wereld om haar te ontmoeten. Met Jewel en zijn nieuwe bijdehante stadsvriendjes beleeft hij het grootste avontuur van zijn leven.
