Dit hoogwaardig maan- en grijsfilter heeft een dichtheid van 0,9 en laat een transmissie van 13% door. Dit neutrale dichtheidsfilter laat het licht uit het gehele kleurenspectrum door. Hierdoor is het een uitstekende filter om straling of overbelichting te voorkomen als men naar de maan kijkt met elke telescoop. De ND96 kan ook gebruikt worden bij het scheiden van dichtbij elkaar staande sterren, waarbij een ster duidelijk helderder is dan de andere. Kleurfilters worden gebruikt om het contrast te verhogen bij visuele waarnemingen en astrofotografie van de maan en planeten.
