CD-R is een beschrijfbare schijf met een capaciteit van 700 MB. Voldoet aan de specificaties van Orange Book Part II Version 3. De 'mechanische specificaties' van Verbatim-media zijn uiterst nauwkeurig. Gegevens die erop worden opgeslagen kunnen worden gelezen op een breed scala aan schijfstations. Hierdoor worden Verbatim-schijven gekenmerkt door een hoog niveau van compatibiliteit tussen apparaten die werken op uiteenlopende snelheden. Superieure weerstand tegen UV-straling. Levensduur bij archivering: Extra Protection - tot 40 jaar; AZO - tot 100 jaar. Laagste foutpercentage bij diverse cd-schrijfapparaten. Schijven met een Extra Protection-oppervlak zijn voorzien van een wit oppervlak dat extra bescherming biedt voor de kwetsbare labelzijde. Hierop kan worden geschreven met een CD/DVD-markeerpen.
