Hoe overleven twee Amsterdammers op het Zweedse plat- teland? Ruben en Hilde verruilen hun hectische stadsleven voor rust en natuur in de noordelijke provincie Jamtland. In het dorp Revsund, waar de lucht schoon is en de winters lang, kopen zij een oude pastorie aan een meer. Is dat wel zo vredig en idyllisch als het lijkt? Ruben en Hilde openen een Bed & Breakfast en starten een mediabedrijf. Ze doen fanatiek hun best te integreren, verdiepen zich in de meest uiteenlopende plattelandsgewoon- ten en proberen, ondanks de stress die een renovatie met zich meebrengt, hun relatie een beetje gezellig te houden. Met het voorbijgaan van de seizoenen verzamelen zij steeds meer aanstekelijke anekdotes over de eigenaardige maar beminnelijke Zweden, lokale culinaire rariteiten, klussen met twee linkerhanden en persoonlijke confrontaties. Een nieuw leven opbouwen in de middle of nowhere valt niet mee, maar overleven was nog nooit zo fijn.
