Een groter contrast tussen het dorpje Liessel en de beruchte stad Helmond is eigenlijk niet denkbaar. Het was dan ook een hele grote gok van het bestuur van Liessel om een trainer uit Helmond op de beloftes van Liessel te zetten maar het pakte precies zo uit zoals ze het wellicht voor ogen hebben gehad. De betweters van deze tijd uit Liessel, kregen sympathie voor de branieschopper uit Helmond en samen werkten ze op een memorabele manier naar een passend slotstuk. Een mooi voorbeeld dat vooroordelen illusies zijn als je openstaat voor normen en waarden en opdient met een vleugje respect. Daar gaat dit boek over. Een Helmonder in Liessel.
