Een vreemdeling in Lapland De Finse taal nog nauwelijks machtig begint Thijs Feuth als arts te werken bij een lokaal gezondheidscentrum in Lapland. Hij reist zijn geliefde Laura achterna, maar ook de stilte en de uitgestrektheid van de natuur trekken hem aan. Terwijl de wereld in de greep is van terrorisme, de ebolacrisis en andere verontrustende gebeurtenissen, wordt Posio door de invallende winter en de omliggende wildernis van de buitenwereld afgesloten. De Finse mythologie, hardlopen, langlaufen en het schrijven helpen hem bij zijn zoektocht naar hoe te leven.
