Zeeuwen aan de Kaap

Om schepen die op weg waren naar en van Azië van schoon drinkwater, vlees en verse groenten te voorzien stichtte Jan van Riebeeck in 1652 een verversingspost aan Kaap de Goede Hoop. Naarmate de verversingspost uitgroeide tot een echte kolonie, vestigden zich ook nogal wat Zeeuwen aan de Kaap. Daar zat goed volk tussen. Maar ook een beruchte messentrekkeruit Breskens, een diefachtig wijf uit Colijnsplaat, een overspelige boerenknecht uit Ouwerkerk en een moordenares uit Middelburg. In deze bundel zijn hun verhalen opgetekend. Een primeur, want nooit eerder is specifiek aandacht geschonken aan Zeeuwen in Zuid-Afrika.De schrijvers hebben alle drie een lange verbintenis met Zuid-Afrika. Bart de Graaff als historicus en journalist. Caesar Hulstaert als hoofdbestuurslid van de Nederlands Zuid-Afrikaanse Vereniging. En Corine de Maijer als bibliothecaris van het Zuid-Afrika Huis in Amsterdam.
