Chemochemie - Roy Geurs

Je bent 52 jaar en er wordt darmkanker bij je geconstateerd. Een heel traject van onderzoeken, operatie, chemokuren en ziekenhuisbezoeken volgt. Om zijn familie, vrienden en collega's op de hoogte te houden van de ontwikkelingen begint Roy Geurs tweewekelijkse berichten te schrijven. De 20 berichten beslaan de periode van augustus 2014 tot de zomer van 2015 wanneer alle chemokuren zijn doorstaan en Geurs verder kan met zijn leven. De berichtjes laten zien hoe Geurs en zijn gezin met de ziekte omgaan. De teksten zijn realistisch, positief en beeldend, maar laten ook een poëtische en filosofische kant zien van de schrijver. Hij lardeert zijn berichtjes met gedichten en tekstregels van liedjes. Geurs laat zien dat een periode van ziek zijn niet alleen maar ellende is, maar dat er ook nog genoeg te lachen valt.
