Een boek geschreven vanuit het autistisch spectrum maar niet benoemt in het boek, omdat de schrijver de aanschouwer de beleving wil laten ontdekken over hoe een man van zijn 21e tot en met zijn 31e levensjaar heeft gedacht en dit in dichterlijke vorm heeft omgezet. Het boek is voornamelijk ontstaan uit Jules zijn droomwereld waar dan ook de titel op gebaseerd is; Toen werd ik wakker... Op dat moment start de creativiteit en wordt zijn droomwereld realiteit in een grafisch/surrealistische vorm van beeldende taal. Hierbij nodigt hij u uit om eerst te interpreteren wat hij bedoeld met zijn schilderijen en later pas de analyses te lezen zodat hij kan laten zien hoe hij denkt en dat dat dus anders is dan anderen.
