Het mirakel Merkel

De politieke carrière van Angela Merkel boezemt ontzag in. Minister onder Helmut Kohl, een aantal jaren later werd ze leider van de CDU. En sinds 2005 is ze de eerste vrouwelijke bondskanselier van Duitsland. Maar wie is eigenlijk Angela Merkel? Wie is die vrouw met de hangende mondhoeken die, volgens ingewijden, een groot gevoel voor humor heeft? Heeft het feit dat ze opgegroeid is in de DDR invloed gehad op de keuzen die ze maakte in haar leven? Margriet Brandsma (St. Pancras, 1957) probeert het raadsel Merkel te ontrafelen. Brandsma was tot eind 2010 correspondent voor de NOS in Duitsland. Nu heeft ze haar eigen bedrijf voor journalistieke producties en is part-time verslaggever voor de NOS.
