Ellis is veertig jaar oud als ze alle zekerheden in Nederland opgeeft om een nieuw bestaan op te bouwen in een boerendorpje in Turkije. De streek waarop ze tijdens haar vakanties verliefd is geworden is een van de mooiste natuurgebieden van het land. Zelfs tijd voelt hier anders. De dorpelingen leven, zoals ze honderden jaren gedaan hebben. Vol verwondering kijkt en leert Ellis hoe deze mensen zonder vast inkomen een vrijwel stressloos bestaan hebben.
