Windstilte van de ziel

'Lang ben ik voor het woord 'ziel' teruggedeinsd. Zelden heb ik het in filosofische zin in de mond genomen. Eigenlijk begrijp ik niet wat me bezielde toen ik uitgerekend de verhouding tussen tijd en ziel als onderwerp voor dit essay voorstelde. En daar is het woord alweer gevallen. Wat me 'bezielde'. Daar glipt het op de eerste bladzijde van dit dagboek door mijn vingers heen, alsof het eens flink de draak wil steken met mijn schroom.' Tegen het decor van de Franse Bourgogne mijmert Joke J. Hermsen over de ziel. Ze koppelt de ziel aan de ervaring van de innerlijke tijd, die verschilt van de dwingende kloktijd waar we ons meestal naar richten. Gaandeweg begrijpt ze steeds beter wat Nietzsche bedoelde met 'de windstilte van de ziel' die voorafgaat aan elk creatief proces.
