De ondergang van de SNS Bank

Op 1 februari 2013 stuurde minister Dijsselbloem de Tweede Kamer een Kamerbrief over SNS Reaal, de vierde bank van Nederland. De minister had, in nauw overleg met de De Nederlandsche Bank, SNS Reaal genationaliseerd. Met de ingreep voorkwam hij grote problemen voor de financiële stabiliteit van Nederland. Het spaargeld van klanten was veilig en de dienstverlening gewaarborgd. Alle problemen rondom de bank leken hiermee opgelost - maar niets is minder waar, blijkt uit dit explosieve boek. In De ondergang van de SNS Bank laat Hetty van de Laar van binnenuit zien hoe een criminele organisatie binnen SNS jarenlang zijn gang kon gaan, en betrokkenen elkaar op sluwe wijze de bal toespeelden. Uiteindelijk zag ze zich gedwongen aangifte te doen bij de FIOD tegen haar toenmalige baas Buck Groenhof; een aangifte die leidde tot een grootschalig onderzoek met vele aanhoudingen. Ontluisterend aan haar verhaal is dat het old boys network nog steeds actief blijkt en de laatste tegel nog lang niet is gelicht. Integendeel: een nieuwe doofpotaffaire is geboren.
